Turku University Choir's new Artistic Leader is Danish Ida Damgren Højen. Ida will start to
work with the choir in August 2023. There were a total of 11 people who applied for the
position.

Ida Damgren Højen studied in the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus from 2020. Her
major was General Music Leadership. She studied choral conducting at Sibelius Academy for
one year as an exchange student and decided to stay in Finland to work as a choral
conductor.
Ida's strengths are developing the choir’s musicality in the long term through play and
exercise while teaching the repertoire at the same time. Ida has studied both classical and
pop/jazz conducting, so she has a broad view of conducting in different genres.
